In this game, you take on the role of The Leader, a camp counselor who must protect their town and family from the mysterious creatures known as the Greed. These monsters are after your family's legacy, the Crown of Creation, and it's up to you to defend it.
To help you in your mission, you can recruit neighborhood kids and assign them roles as soldiers or builders. You'll also need to use coins to build and expand your kingdom, fortify it with walls and defensive turrets, and be prepared for the Greed's relentless attacks at night. If you lose your crown, everything is lost.
Each game in the Kingdom series has its own secrets to discover. As you explore your surroundings, you can unlock mounts, discover technology upgrades and weapons, and learn how to manage your resources wisely in order to survive.
Kingdom Eighties is a game that both veterans and newcomers to the series can enjoy. It builds upon the familiar mechanics of previous Kingdom games, while also delving deeper into the lore and worldbuilding of the series. And if you're new to the game, the story elements will guide you through the gameplay mechanics.
Along your journey, you'll meet three supporting characters: The Champ, The Tinkerer, and The Wiz. Each of these characters has unique abilities that you can combine to solve puzzles and overcome challenges in each level.
But the summer camp is just the beginning. You'll also travel to new locations never seen before in the Kingdom series. From the skateboard park to Main Street shops, and even the New Lands Mall, you'll have plenty of places to explore and conquer.
Kingdom Eighties brings back the iconic, handcrafted pixel art style of the series, but with a neon touch inspired by the aesthetics of the eighties. And to complete the nostalgic experience, the game features a synthwave soundtrack by Andreas Hald, taking you back to the days of bike riding and summer camps when anything seemed possible.
