In Pro Football Coach, you are in charge of a professional football team as the newly hired coach/general manager. Your ultimate goal is to win the Championship, and you will do whatever it takes to achieve that. You even have the opportunity to compete against other teams online.
Just like real professional football leagues, your team will play 16 games in the regular season. You can view your team's schedule by navigating to the "GAMES" tab. By clicking on each game, you can see a scouting report of the two teams (if the game has not been played yet) or a summary of the game (if it has already been played).
After the regular season, playoffs begin and each division winner is guaranteed a spot, along with 2 wildcard teams from each conference.
When you first take over a team, you will have a roster of 46 players, including 22 starters. Each player has a name, age, Overall rating, Potential rating, Durability rating, Football IQ rating, and three position specific ratings. The Overall rating is a combination of the three position specific ratings, while Potential determines how much a player will improve during the offseason. Durability and Football IQ also play important roles in a player's performance.
In the "ROSTER" tab, you can view all of your players, including 2 QBs (1 starter), 4 RBs (2 starters), 6 WRs (3 starters), 10 OLs (5 starters), 2 Ks (1 starter), 2 Ss (1 starter), 6 CBs (3 starters), 8 DLs (4 starters), and 6 LBs (3 starters). Each position has specific responsibilities on the field.
In Pro Football Coach, you can also trade with other teams, just like in real life professional football leagues. You can add players or picks to the trading block and view offers from other teams. You can also add players or picks from other teams to your trading block and see what they want in return. Contracts are not taken into account during trading, but keep in mind that taking on big contracts may limit your ability to sign free agents in the offseason.
As the coach, you have the power to choose your team's offensive and defensive strategies. These can be changed at any time and include options like Aggressive or Conservative for offense, and No Fly Zone or Stack the Box for defense.
