In Point Salad, players collect vegetables and recipes to score points. Each recipe has its own scoring rules, so players must strategize to collect the perfect combination of ingredients. The game can be played with friends and family online or against AI opponents.
On each turn, players choose between two fresh vegetables or a recipe from the market. The market refreshes and opponents also join in the hunt for vegetables. Multiple recipes can use the same vegetable, so players must carefully plan their moves to maximize their points. The game ends when all vegetables and recipes have been collected, and the player with the most points is declared the winner.
The game features cross-platform online multiplayer, allowing players to battle against friends and family on different devices. Private online games can also be played with friends, and progress is synced across all devices. This means players can start a game on one device and continue it on another. Point Salad also offers the option to play against AI opponents, or even multiple AIs at once. Local multiplayer is also available for friends playing on the same device. A tutorial is included to help new players learn the game.
The game is available in English and has received several awards and honors, including being nominated for the 2023 Guldbrikken Best Family Game and recommended for the 2021 Spiel des Jahres. It has also won awards such as the 2020 Origins Awards Best Card Game and the 2020 Nederlandse Spellenprijs Best Family Game. In addition, it was named the 2020 5 Seasons Best International Card Game.
