This app is a game that does not require any in-app purchases. It allows players to import their saved data into the paid version of "Monster Hunter Stories" to continue their adventure. The game features the ability to recruit and bond with various monsters, known as Monsties, as well as explore different environments and dungeons to find monster eggs to hatch.
The smartphone version of the game includes new features such as improved graphics, user interface, and an auto-save function. The story begins with three friends who stumble upon a mysterious egg and perform a ritual that unexpectedly hatches the egg into a baby Rathalos, a powerful flying wyvern. The trio names the creature "Ratha" and takes it back to their village.
However, their peaceful village is soon attacked by a monster infected with a deadly disease known as "the Black Blight." The trio manages to drive it away, but not without suffering emotional scars. A year later, the hero receives a Kinship Stone and becomes an official Rider, while their friends Cheval and Lilia go their separate ways. The hero teams up with a cheerful creature named Navirou and sets off on a new adventure as a hunter.
The game focuses on themes of friendship and triumph as players ride into the world of Monster Hunter Stories. It is important to note that the game is only compatible with certain devices, and the network battle function is no longer available as of March 31, 2020. However, players can still access all titles obtained from battle ranks after updating to version 1.0.2.
Before playing the game, users must agree to the "Monster Hunter Stories End User License Agreement." This version of the game features the same story as the handheld console version, but some features such as collaboration content, amiibo features, local network battles, and StreetPass are not available. Deleting the app will also delete any saved data, and it can only be downloaded with a Wi-Fi connection. Additionally, QR codes from the Japanese version will not work in this version.
