Magium is an interactive text adventure game that draws inspiration from Dungeons and Dragons. You play as Barry, an ordinary guy who enters a deadly mage tournament in hopes of fulfilling his dream of becoming a mage. Your choices in the game will affect the story and can even lead to your character's death. In addition to making choices, you can also upgrade your stats with points earned throughout the game. These stats will determine your ability to perform certain actions, such as understanding ancient languages.
The game is set in a medieval fantasy world with elements of futuristic technology. The story begins at the start of the tournament, where you and other participants are transported to the continent where the competition takes place. As you progress, you will meet other characters, make friends and enemies, and learn more about the continent and its inhabitants. The world is based on the concept of utopias created by "The Creator" 600 years ago, but these utopias are now on the brink of destruction. Your choices will impact the fate of these cities and their inhabitants.
The game is divided into six or seven books, each consisting of over 100,000 words. The first book is available for free and is approximately 178,000 words long. The second book is also available in its entirety, but the remaining books will be released chapter by chapter. The second book can be unlocked by completing achievements or by paying to unlock it. The same method will apply to the remaining books.
The second book is 277,000 words long, and a playthrough on one path will consist of around 140,000 words. The game's updates can be followed on Twitter or Facebook through the Magium Games page. The game icon was created by Agnes Landgraf.
