FINAL FANTASY IV: THE AFTER YEARS is an exciting and immersive game that has been fully remade in 3-D, allowing players to experience it like never before. It is the sequel to FINAL FANTASY IV and takes place almost two decades after the events of the original game. Familiar characters from the first game, such as Cecil and Rosa, return alongside new heroes like Ceodore, their son.
The game features ten playable tales, starting with "Ceodore's Tale." Completing this tale unlocks six additional tales that can be played in any order. After completing these, players can return to the core story with "Kain's Tale," "The Lunarian's Tale," and "The Crystals." In total, there are ten tales to experience in FINAL FANTASY IV: THE AFTER YEARS.
The game also features the iconic Active Time Battle system, allowing players to take control of exhilarating combat. The moon's presence in combat is also felt, as its phases influence the potency of attacks and abilities. These phases cycle naturally with in-game time or when resting at an inn, tent, or cottage.
Players can also combine the strength of their party members with Band abilities, which can be unlocked through in-game events or by leveling up characters' Affinity. The game also includes a minimap for easy navigation and quick access to the world map.
FINAL FANTASY IV: THE AFTER YEARS also offers Google Play Game support, with dozens of achievements to challenge players. The game's story takes place seventeen years after the end of the war in the first game, with Prince Ceodore, the son of Cecil and Rosa, now a young man and a member of the Red Wings airship fleet. However, a new moon has appeared in the sky, bringing with it a threat of destruction and putting the peace of the Blue Planet in danger once again.
It is important to note that FINAL FANTASY IV: THE AFTER YEARS cannot be launched on devices running Android 4.4 with Android RunTime (ART) enabled. Players must ensure that the default runtime is selected before launching the game in order to play.
